So , I ran this today ! No , not the full , but the 1st leg of the 5 man ( ur woman) relay team for Quinte West Move it or Lose it! Team

Set my alarm

Oh dear lord that’s early !
Drank my coffee, ate my oatmeal and PB toast and I was out the door!

Yup, still early!
I arrived first to the venue and didn’t see my team , they started loading buses to take us from Picton to Wellington , the start line for the full and relay teams! Gun time – 8am

I was super freezing and wet already because it was pissing down rain! I hate running in the rain! Made my way to the start line at 745 and was ready to go!

I sized up the competition

Damn , those Kenyans are hard to beat!

My run was going quite well , check out my splits

I kept a pretty steady pace going and that was the plan! My entire body was frozen by mile 6 and for someone with Raynauds , cold wet weather is your worst enemy!
At 11k I saw my teammate Sandi and I handed the bib off to her , she had to get 10k done

My job now was to get back on a bus and head into Picton to the finish line , wait for my team and cross together! But first – food and coffee

Warned up long enough to run back outside to see the Kenyan cross at 2:38
He was cold too

Then I found out Sandi blew her knee out during her leg and was in the medical tent!

  1. Even though, it was early, you were cold, and poor Sandi blew her knee out, sounds like it was a good time! Especially if you got to warm up with a Timmies coffee!

    • It was fun, I had never done a relay before and it was very different to just not keep going lol! Poor poor Sandi, we all feel so awful for her! I am praying for a speedy recovery! Yes, the nice warm coffee before and after the race def helped!
